Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham among clubs printing programmes to keep collectors happy

Several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham, are set to continue printing match programmes when football restarts, despite fans being unable to attend matches.

The Premier League will return from the coronavirus shutdown on June 17, but all matches will be played behind closed doors because of government restrictions, meaning there will be no match-going supporters to buy programmes on their way into stadiums.

According to reports, however, several top-flight clubs are keen to avoid disappointing collectors, and will therefore continue to make programmes available to order online.

The Mail say that Arsenal will ask supporters to write short obituaries for loved ones lost during the coronavirus pandemic to feature in the programme for their first home game after the resumption, against Norwich on July 1.

The report says Aston Villa, Brighton, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Everton, Norwich and Watford are all planning to continue printing.

Others, including both Manchester clubs, have said they will make digital versions, while the likes of Wolves and Sheffield United are planning one giant edition to cover the remainder of the campaign.
