Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta's future at the club is uncertain following their poor start to the 2021/22 season.
The Gunners are yet to register a single point from their opening two games of the campaign - suffering 2-0 defeats to newly-promoted Brentford, and more recently, Chelsea.
That poor start to the Premier League campaign has piled the pressure on Arteta, whose job was questioned coming into the season, with some supporters venting their frustration with the manager on social media.
In recent days, former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who looked set to take over as Tottenham head coach prior to Nuno Espirito Santo 's appointment earlier in the summer, has been linked with Arsenal.
Now, former England striker Darren Bent has explained what the Gunners need to do if they are to convince the Italian manager to take over at the Emirates Stadium.
Bent highlighted the importance of letting him have freedom in the transfer window so he can build his own squad.
"He is not really about projects, he usually stays about two years then he ends up falling out with someone and leaving," Bent told talkSPORT.
"But he’s usually very successful in those two years. Arsenal would have to totally change up their project in terms of giving him complete power, because that is what he wants.
"He wants to sign the players he wants to sign. He is all about winning right now. You look at the players he signed for Inter Milan, Ashley Young, an ageing player, Victor Moses.
"Signings you questioned but when you saw how they played in his team you were like: ‘I understand that’.
"For me, he is one of the best managers in the world. If Arsenal can get him, brilliant.
"But I just can’t see him coming to Arsenal, especially with the state the club is in at the minute."
Conte most recently led Inter Milan to the Serie A title last season, but reports suggested that a falling out with the club's board forced him to resign.
The former Chelsea boss was then set to take over at Tottenham, but the two parties failed to agree on a deal and the north London club eventually looked elsewhere before finally appointing Espirito Santo.
If Arteta does leave Arsenal, then Conte would surely be a shrewd appointment from the north London club, but as Bent mentioned, there could be some hurdles to overcome in the negotiations.
