Arsenal told to concentrate on £60m Swedish ace ahead of potential Everton transfer deal

Links between Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic and Arsenal have confirmed in many ways that the club is looking to add a striker to their squad. It’s needed too...

The Africa Cup Of Nations will mean Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will leave for the competition in January. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are both playing their final contracted years at the Emirates.

This leaves the strikeforce options for Mikel Arteta very limited and fans have started to discuss who they would choose to be their new leading striker.

The Arsenal Way's presenter and writer Bailey Keogh (BK) spoke with Social Producer Umar Choudhry (UC) and Editor Chris Davidson (CD) on Wednesday morning's Analysing Arsenal show and spoke about a certain Swedish talent...

UC: “I’ve been on the Isak bandwagon since we started this YouTube channel. Alexander Isak, it’s simple. I wasn’t interested in Dusan Vlahovic, yeah he’s played brilliantly for Fiorentina this season and even last season.

“He had a goalscoring record, in terms of his goal output. But, I want to see a different type of striker. I think Isak is a striker in that set bracket who can take it to the next level. I think he’s got that all-around ability, is strong and aggressive.

“He’s a good dribbler and quick. We need to target players like that. With the Dusan Vlahovic links the club have got it in their head that they need a striker and that’s good. Obviously, Nketia’s future is up in the end.

“I think Lacazette will be going Aubameyand is reaching that age where he’s under decline. Now the plans are set by Richard Garlick and Edu that we need a striker for our new position.

“So, I wouldn’t pay sixty, seventy-odd million pounds the Serbian, Vlahovic. I would pay around that for Isak. I think he’s the type of striker who can explode now. He’s the right age bracket as well, which I like.

“He’s young and played in big tournaments, internationally for Sweden and he’s performed well. So, if you’re giving me a striker who's a straight shooter like Ollie Watkins or Dominic Calvert-Lewin - it’s Isak for me 100%.

BK: “Do you think he’ll struggle because he’s not played in the Premier League before?”

CD: “I think we’ve got to accept that we can target a big names player in another league, anyone you can get they’re more likely to struggle when they first arrive. This is a completely different league the Premier League and a completely different test.

“They have to get used to their new surroundings and adjust to the style. So, you’re going to get that with any signing. But, I must admit I’m a big fan of Isak. He’s a big talent and I also like the look Youssef En-Nesyri, at Sevilla.

“I think he’s recently picked up a slight injury though and been out for a little while. I don’t know how series that is. But, when you look at Aston Villa’s situation at the minute and that he’s a boyhood Arsenal fan, someone like Ollie Watkins could be a good shout as well.

“He’s got that Premier League experience which is of course a big bonus. I know there have been reports that Arsenal are not in for Vlahovic and that they’re looking for potential options upfront, without going into the summer.

“I don’t think we can rule out any movement coming into January. Something only has to happen to Nketiah leaves us very much short. They’re both coming to the end of their contracts now.

“So, it’s one to keep an eye out on and look at bolstering our striker options. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is another great shout. But, with his recent injury problems We’ll have to wait and see, there’s plenty of options out there. It needs to be a priority for us moving forward.”
