Arsenal to reopen Hale End academy following coronavirus scare

Arsenal will reopen their Hale End academy base on Friday following coronavirus scare.

The club on Wednesday announced the east London training ground was forced to close after a member of staff tested positive for Covid-19.

Hale End is the home for Arsenal's next generation of young stars, separate from the senior base at London Colney, near St. Albans.

Six members of staff were told to self-isolate, in addition to the staff member who tested positive, with the facility on Thursday undergoing a deep clean.

Hale End has now been given the all-clear to reopen.

An Arsenal statement said: "All Club, Premier League and UK Government protocols have been successfully followed, and we are satisfied that following a full deep clean, it is safe to return to our Hale End Academy tomorrow (Friday 9 October).

"The staff members who are self-isolating as a precaution are being supported by the Club."
