Arsenal to consider Thomas Partey alternative as Odsonne Edouard tipped to complete transfer

Here are your Arsenal headlines for the morning of Saturday May 2.

Arsenal move for Franck Kessie could be on after January enquiry

The moment could be right for Arsenal to make a move for Franck Kessie after the Gunners asked about the availability of the AC Milan midfielder in the January transfer window.

MilanNews24 reports that will not keep Dani Ceballos beyond this summer, with the Spaniard expected to return to parent club Real Madrid, meaning that Arteta will be in the transfer market for a new midfielder.

Arsenal might not be able to spend more than €20-25 million on a midfielder, but AC Milan might be open to a part-exchange using Lucas Torreira as a makeweight.

The Gunners have also been strongly linked with Thomas Partey, with the Ghanian’s agent adding fuel to the fire by posting an image depicting his client having a choice between a number of top clubs including Arsenal to Instagram.

Ian Wright reacts after Bernd Leno voted into FIFA team

An Arsenal star of the past has reacted to an Arsenal star of the present, Bernd Leno’s, award of a place in the FIFA team of the season so far, with Alan Wright tweeting “Yesssssssss Bernd.”

The German goalkeeper, signed as the long term successor to Petr Cech, has enjoyed an impressive second season at the Emirates Stadium, establishing himself as one of the first names on the team sheet under new manager Mikel Arteta.

Leno has played every minute of Premier League action this season, earning himself a place in the  FIFA community’s team of the season so far.

“Thanks for voting me in the TOTS so far #FIFA20 #TOTSSF,” Leno posted to Twitter.

Former Celtic star sees Arsenal target Odsonne Edouard moving to England

Former Celtic player Frank McGarvey believes reported Arsenal target Odsonne Edouard will head to the Premier League sooner or later with the French striker attracting attention.

The Hoops striker has scored 62 goals in 126 appearances since making the move from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017 and McGarvey says £20 million move be enough to lure him south of the border.

“I just love watching Edouard. He has that bit of magic in his feet, and he reminds me of Charlie Nicholas,” McGarvey told The Scottish Sun.

“You just know if he gets the ball just outside of the box the other team are in trouble. Edouard has that ability to produce something out of nothing because he has such quick feet.

“I think someone will come in this summer and put £20m on the table for him. You can’t blame Celtic for taking it, especially in the current climate.”
