Arsenal to avoid losing key players for Norwich as former Gunner ends return rumours

Here is your football.london Arsenal evening digest on Wednesday, September 8.

Arsenal set to avoid losing Brazilian duo

With Premier League clubs facing the prospect of being without their Brazilian players this weekend, Arsenal are likely to be unaffected by the chaos.

The Brazilian Football Federation is on a collision course with teams that refused to release their players for the international break, with the federation asking FIFA to impose their “five-day ban” rule.

Eight players are said to be affected across five clubs.

Gunners duo Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli should be available for Saturday’s clash against Norwich given that neither has earned a senior cap for their national squad yet.

Marc Overmars plays down return rumours

The likelihood of one former Arsenal player replacing another as technical director is looking slim.

Marc Overmars has been rumoured to replace Edu given the latter’s recent spending policy and the club’s dire start to the season.

But the 48-year-old has poured cold water on him leaving anytime soon.

Speaking to Ajax TV, he said: “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. If your old shoes are still comfy, keep wearing them.”

Until then however, it’s natural that managers are linked to the club and football.london has taken a look at who could succeed the 39-year-old in the dugout.
