Here's all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Arsenal to make director of football appointment

Arsenal have acquired the services of the Premier League's director of football.

Richard Garlick will leave his current role to take up a new post at the Gunners as their new director of football operations.

According to the Athletic, Garlick will move on from his Premier League role later in 2021, having taken up the position in the summer of 2018.

He will succeed Huss Fahmy and help to deal with player contracts and negotiations, a role that has also been held by Dick Law before him.

Holding's confrontation with Klopp and Mane

Arsenal defender Rob Holding has opened up about his debut against Liverpool in 2016, and confrontations he had with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp and forward Sadio Mane.

The Reds scored three goals in 14 second-half minutes to inflict misery on the Gunners centre-back, but fast forward to the end of last season in July and this time Holding was dishing out what he had to offer.

He went toe-to-toe with Mane at the Emirates, throwing the Liverpool winger to the floor and then exchanging words with the visiting bench.

“There were words said, and Jurgen Klopp got involved,” he said. “We were all giving each other a bit of stick. I remember it getting [Alexandre] Lacazette going, he got really hyper off it.

"People were telling me to relax and keep my head, but I was fine.

"I don’t mind that. It was a little thing that ignited the team."

Arteta transcript

The Gunners head coach faced the media following Arsenal's 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace and the main talking point from his press conference was about Kieran Tierney's fitness.

Tierney was missing from the matchday squad due to "muscle tightness" and Arsenal's lack of creativity and spark in the final third made his absence more keenly felt.

"We don’t know," Arteta told reporters when asked how long the left-back could be out for. "We’ll probably know more tomorrow after testing him and having the evolution of the injury and how long he’s gonna be out for.

"Certainly it was a big disappointment just on the day of the match to lose him. Hopefully he can be with us very quickly."
