Arsenal will have a new manager in the dugout for when they face Everton at Goodison Park.
That's according to our friends at the Daily Mirror.
The report claims that Mikel Arteta has reached an agreement to replace Unai Emery in the Emirates Stadium dugout and is now ready to sign a three-and-a-half year deal after extensive negotiations in the past 48 hours.
In addition, it's understood that Arsenal director Josh Kroenke has now returned to the United States after the concluded talks with the 37-year-old and now that the process is done.
It's likely that the Gunners will confirm Arteta's appointment following Manchester City's Carabao Cup tie away at Oxford on Wednesday night.
This was always going to be the case as revealed by Pep Guardiola in his pre-match press conference.
"Today I saw him. Yes, he's travelling [to Oxford on Wednesday]," the City boss told reporters. "When we so smart to pick him up and other clubs want him. He's an incredible person. A good manager, good work ethic, that's why he's with us.
"He's talking with Arsenal so I don't know what's going to happen.
"Yes, I was aware [of the meeting]. He was incredibly honest and transparent with me.
"The club is always live. People today and then maybe tomorrow not here. Now he is part of our group and staff and stays here.
"When we have any new news I will know it and you will know it.
"He trained today, and that's all."
Interestingly the report also states that Arteta will be allowed to bring in his choice of assistant.
Amid speculation that he could turn to ex-Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, it is believed he is keen on another member of Guardiola’s backroom staff, Rodolfo Borrell.
With that said, all should become clearer within the next couple of days as the Gunners prepare to face Everton at Goodison Park.
