Arsenal tipped to sign Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho amid reports of Camp Nou talks

Arsenal's could be about to see another big name through the door at the Emirates Stadium if bookmakers are to be believed.

The Gunners have already brought in Nicolas Pepe and Dani Ceballos this summer to boost their options in midfield and up front.

Now they are being linked with a loan move for Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho, who joined the Spanish giants for a reported fee that could reach £142 million.

The shortening of odds comes as Spanish newspaper Sport report that Arsenal will attempt to discuss the option of signing Coutinho with Barcelona today (August 4).

Arsenal will face Barcelona at 7pm in the Joan Gamper Trophy at the Camp Nou and will apparently use the pre-season game as a backdrop to talks over his future.

The forward made 34 appearances in La Liga last season but only scored five goals and provided two assists in the league all season.

Rumours of a move for Coutinho come just days after Arsenal broke their transfer record to sign Pepe from Lille for £72 million, but the Gunners are unlikely to be interested in much more than a loan move for the Brazilian.

A loan move would make Coutinho the second big name loan this summer, after Ceballos joined from Real Madrid.

Odds on Arsenal being the team to sign Coutinho from Barcelona have reached as low as 6/4 with William Hill.

However, the Gunners aren't the only side being linked with Paris Saint Germain reaching as low as 7/4 to be the Brazilian's next home.

Despite all this the bookies still appear to believe that the most likely option is for Coutinho to stay in Barcelona, with PaddyPower listing that at just 1/4.

All odds are according to Oddschecker at 1pm on August 4, 2019.
