Arsenal tipped to sell five players as Mikel Arteta plots Gunners transfer plans

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will oversee a radical overhaul of his Gunners squad in the summer, according to football.london.

The Gunners boss - who is preparing to return to training and welcome back his squad to London Colney after his positive COVID-19 test two weeks ago - will be overseeing his first summer transfer window in charge when this current campaign finally comes to an end in the coming months.

And he is said to be ready to axe five squad members to speed up his revolution.

Arteta added loan defenders Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares to his squad in the summer, with the Spanish defender more than likely to complete a permanent switch from Brazilian club Flamengo come the summer.

And with Cedric not expected to make his switch permanent, it is Mari's addition that could spark a number of other Arsenal transfer moves in a busy and truncated summer.

Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos have both been tipped to move on, with the German very close to leaving the club both last summer and in January.

The former Everton and Valencia man has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates, and there is a feeling that it would be best for all concerned if he were to complete a move away from the club in order to get a fresh start.

Sokratis still retains much support among the Gunners fanbase, but the club may look to cash in on the Greek international given his age of 32 and the fact the exciting William Saliba will return from his loan spell at Saint-Etienne in the summer.

Left-back Sead Kolasinac is another tipped to leave, with Arteta set to place his trust Kieran Tierney and Bukayo Saka in the position.

Mohamed Elneny and Henrikh Mkhitaryan - currently on loan at Besiktas and Roma respectively - make up the quintet who could be moved on in order to raise transfer funds.
