Mikel Arteta has already earmarked a potential signing for the January transfer window, according to reports.
The Gunners spent heavily during the summer window, adding marquee signing Thomas Partey among others.
But if reports are to be believed, Arteta is not satisfied with his squad just yet, already asking his board for another new signing in the January window.
According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Arteta has told his board he wants to sign Real Madrid midfielder Isco, who has struggled for game time this season.
The report suggests the Gunners are eyeing up a possible loan move for the Spain international with an option to buy at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old burst onto the scene at the Santiago Bernabeu after joining from Malaga in 2013 and was a regular for a number of years as Real rediscovered their European dominance.
But he has fallen out of favour since Zinedine Zidane's return, starting just three times this season, and he is now reportedly looking for a new challenge.
Arsenal could offer him that and they may be in a good position with Dani Ceballos already on loan at the Emirates Stadium.
The sticking point could be the Gunners' desire to land Isco on loan with Real, according to the report, preferring a permanent deal in the winter.
It also remains to be seen just how heavily the Arsenal board will back Arteta in the winter window having spent heavily in the summer, particularly given the Gunners' slow start to the campaign.
Arsenal are currently 12th with just 13 points from nine games, seven points off the pace with North London rivals Tottenham currently top, level on points with reigning champions Liverpool.
