Arsenal thrashes West Ham 6-0 in dominant performance at London Stadium

Arsenal

Arsenal displayed an impressive and ruthless performance in their 6-0 victory over West Ham at London Stadium on Sunday. The young sensation, Bukayo Saka, stated that the team 'smelled blood and went for the kill,' exemplifying their hunger for success.

The Gunners wasted no time in asserting their dominance, with goals from centre-back duo William Saliba and Gabriel, a penalty from Saka in the 41st minute, and a superb strike from Leandro Trossard, propelling them to a comfortable 4-0 lead at halftime. The first half was so dismal for West Ham that thousands of their fans decided to leave the stadium and did not return, leaving the remaining supporters to witness a masterclass from Arsenal.

Saka, who was on fire that day, added another goal to his tally in the 63rd minute. Declan Rice, who had moved from West Ham to Arsenal last summer in a £105 million ($133m) transfer, displayed his class by scoring a brilliant 25-yard effort but chose not to celebrate against his former club.

West Ham fans left at half-time as their team trailed 4-0.

Reflecting on the game, Saka mentioned, 'We were 4-0 up in the first half and we could have scored many more, including myself. I think we smelled blood today and went for the kill. We did really well to score more, and we were really happy.' The young talent showcased not only his individual brilliance but also the team's hunger for goals and victory.

This emphatic win marks Arsenal's biggest-ever away victory in Premier League history. It follows their recent triumph over Liverpool and puts them just two points behind the league leaders. In fact, Arsenal is now level on points with Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

When asked if Saka's comments indicated a team ready to challenge their title rivals, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his satisfaction with his team's dedication and improvement. Arteta stated, 'What I smell is a team who wants to be better and better. The way they trained this week, they were totally focused the day after Liverpool to say 'OK, it is a big task and now it is time to go another level and beat West Ham.' They certainly did that today.'

The Gunners are clearly determined to maintain their momentum and build upon their recent successes. Arteta emphasized the need to meet the high standards set by their rivals in order to have any chance at success. He highlighted the strong performances and results as signs of progress and urged the team to continue at this level.

With their impressive form and hunger for victory, Arsenal is certainly a team to watch out for in the upcoming matches. The Gunners have shown their ability to dominate their opponents and are well on their way to challenging for the top honors.
