Thierry Henry has encouraged new Arsenal signing Eberechi Eze to “make it count”.
Eze completed his £67.5million move from Crystal Palace on Saturday, becoming the Gunners’ seventh major signing of a busy summer transfer window.
Having previously been on Arsenal’s books as a youngster, this transfer represents a homecoming for the 27-year-old.
Speaking to club legend, Ian Wright, about his time in the academy, Eze revealed Henry was one of the players he used to look up to at the time.
This admission prompted Wright to pass along a pre-recorded phone message from the French icon to Arsenal’s new No10 who was caught off guard by the gesture.
Henry said: “First and foremost, welcome to the Arsenal. You don’t understand how happy we all are.
“We all know how much you wanted to play for The Arsenal, and wear the cannon at the Emirates.
“There you go – it’s not a dream anymore, it’s not a utopia. That has become reality. Make sure that you make it count.

“Remember, when I first arrived at the Arsenal, they told me that it is a club that has class, it’s a family club, and you got to fight no matter what.
“All the very best, I’m so happy. Come on The Arsenal!”
Eze could make his Arsenal debut against Liverpool next weekend as his move was not completed in time to be available for the 5-0 thrashing of Leeds United on Saturday.
He was, however, presented to the Emirates Stadium faithful before kick-off and then took his seat in the stands to watch his new team-mates continue their perfect start to the new Premier League season.
