Mikel Arteta has decided to drop Willian for Arsenal's game against Southampton on Wednesday night.
The Brazilian has been under fire recently after failing to find his best from since his free transfer from Chelsea in the summer, but has been replaced by Nicolas Pepe.
The Ivorian is available again after serving a three match suspension for his red card against Leeds. He has more goal involvements than anyone in the Arsenal squad but this is only his third start of the season
Alex Lacazette is also replaced by Eddie Nketiah up front, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang moves out to the left.
In midfield the Gunners have chosen to start Dani Ceballos after Granit Xhaka's suspension. Thomas Partey is also injured after suffering a recurrence of his thigh strain in the defeat to Tottenham 10 days ago, and so is unavailable for this evening. Some thought that Ainsley Maitland-Niles might be used in midfield.
Instead the 23-year-old comes in at right wing back to replaced Hector Bellerin who is suspended after picking up his 5th yellow card of the season in Sunday's defeat to Burnley.
The right wing back starts along side Rob Holding, Gabriel, Kieran TierneY and Bukayo Saka in what looks like a back five, with Bernd Leno in goal.
There are places on the bench for Alex Lacazette, Willian, David Luiz, Cedric and Joe Willock. Emile Smith Rowe, Folarin Balogun and Reiss Nelson have not made the 18.
The Gunners will be hoping to avoid slumping to a fifth straight league defeat at home for the first time in their history. They will face a tough task in Southampton though who currently sit fourth in the league after an impressive start to the season.
Full Arsenal starting XI: Leno; Holding, Gabriel, Tierney; Maitland-Niles, Elneny, Ceballos, Saka; Pepe, Nketiah, Aubameyang
