Arsenal target Nuno Tavares filmed at Portuguese airport ahead of flight for imminent transfer

Imminent Arsenal signing Nuno Tavares is set to arrive in London having been spotted in a Portuguese airport.

The Benfica defender has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over recent days.

football.london understands that Arsenal have agreed an €8million (£6.8m) fee with the Portuguese giants and that Tavares is edging close to a move.

That deal could rise with potential add-ons but pending a medical and the standard clearance, he looks soon set to become an Arsenal player on a five-year deal.

A move could occur sooner rather than later with the 21-year-old already seemingly on route to the UK.

A video circulated in social media on Friday afternoon of Tavares within Lisbon airport ahead of a flight to London.

Meanwhile, an image was also shared by the player's agent of Tavares and his entourage having boarded a plane.

His move to Arsenal now only seems a matter of time.

Rumours surrounding Tavares have been circling for a number of days with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta keen to strengthen his left-back options ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Kieran Tierney is the Spaniard’s undoubted first-choice for the position, whilst former Schalke man Sead Kolasinac has an uncertain future at the club.

football.london understands Serie A giants Lazio are considering a deal, whilst Fenerbahce, who also swooped for former Gunner Mesut Ozil last year, are also interested.

Should he leave, that would certainly leave space for more support at left-back, an assignment with Tavares would be able to complete.

Since making his debut for Benfica, he has gone on to make 41 appearances for the Portuguese outfit, scoring once.

He has also made two appearances for the Portuguese under-21 set-up.
