Arsenal 'take first steps' to sign the 'next Mesut Ozil' as summer transfer window hots up

Arsenal have reportedly taken the first steps to sign in-demand Turkish youngster Arda Guler, a player who has been likened to Mesut Ozil.

He may have only just turned 17, but Guler has already shown what he's capable of in Turkey as he's been impressing at Fenerbache - the club Ozil left Arsenal for.

Turkish publication Aksam, via the Mirror, report that Arsenal have 'started the transfer process' to bring the youngster to London. Whilst he's been dubbed the 'Turkish Messi', his playing style is also said to be similar to Ozil's.

Arsenal are in the midst of a busy summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his squad ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Experienced American goalkeeper Matt Turner, Brazilian youngster Marquinhos and Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira have all been signed, whilst fans are waiting on the official announcement of Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus.

Building for the future is a big part of Edu and Arteta's new look Gunners, and Guler would be another statement moving forward. It's still at the very early stages though, so let's wait and see what happens with this one.
