Arsenal fans have a brilliant transfer theory ahead of Mikel Arteta's early press conference

Mikel Arteta will hold his pre-Sheffield United press conference at London Colney this afternoon.

Thus prompting a theory among some Arsenal supporters.

Usually pre-game press conferences take place on the Thursday or Friday before a Premier League game and subsequently the day before a European tie.

Mikel Arteta looks ahead to match with Sheffield United after Palace draw

But Arteta is doing things rather differently as he will be speaking to the media at approximately 2.30pm today.

What's likely to be on the agenda for the Gunners head coach is his plans for the clash against the Blades as well as an injury update on Lucas Torreira who was taken off at half-time during the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace last time out.

It would appear that the Uruguay international is in good spirits.

Taking to social media after the Palace game, he somewhat broke his silence following the injury setback without saying too much.

"Crystal Palace 1 Arsenal 1," he wrote on Instagram with a couple of hashtags.

Whilst it's not confirmation that the injury is not too serious, the fact there was no mention of the problem that forced him off against Palace could be a positive sign.

With that said, is there another reason for Arteta's press conference taking place three days before a game?

Well, a large number of Arsenal fans have a theory.

Some supporters are convinced that the Gunners will be announcing their first signing of the January transfer window.
