Arsenal supporters are saying the same thing as club posts 13-second video clip of Abou Diaby

On this day 13 years ago Abou Diaby scored his first goal for Arsenal and fans have been quick to relive that moment.

The Frenchman moved to Highbury from Auxerre in the 2006 January transfer window - alongside Emmanuel Adebayor and Theo Walcott - and was immediately given a chance in the first-team under Arsene Wenger.

He'd go on to make 16 appearances across all competitions during the second half of the 2005/2006 campaign and showed enough to give fans hope he could be a key player in the future.

Mohamed Salah takes sly dig at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Harry Kane after late Liverpool win

He opened his account for the Gunners in a 5-0 win over Aston Villa on April 1, 2006.

Making one of his trademark runs through the middle of the pitch to get on the end of a square pass from Adebayor to sweep the ball into the back of the net and announce himself to the Highbury faithful.

Thanks to the power of social media, the Arsenal Twitter account uploaded a clip of the goal for fans to enjoy ahead of tonight's clash against Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium and the response has been huge.

Unfortunately for Diaby, injuries robbed him of the chance of fulfilling his potential and announced his retirement from professional football earlier in the year.

"I am bringing an end to my professional career," he said . "It is the right time. For a number of years it has been difficult for me to return, with a lot of physical problems.

"It is a difficult decision but I have thought a lot about my decision and I am at ease with it. After Marseille, I gave myself a year to come back but it was harder than I thought, and I have decided to stop."
