Sokratis could count himself lucky following Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
In a game which swung both ways at the Emirates Stadium where the hosts had to come from behind twice after being reduced to 10-men, the Greece international was very much in the thick of the action.
During the first-half he was involved in a tussle with Villa striker Wesley, in which he appeared to feign an injury following minimal contact.
It could also be argued that blame could be attached to Sokratis for failing to halt Jack Grealish's run into the box in the build up to Villa re-taking the lead.
Luckily for him and the rest of the Gunners’ defence, goals from Calum Chambers and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang completed the turnaround.
But there were still a couple of nervy moments for the hosts to endure before getting over the line.
One being a penalty claim as the ball did strike the arm of Sokratis in the area, but following a VAR check nothing was given.
Pundits Danny Murphy and Alan Shearer on BBC programme Match of the Day 2 were in agreement that Villa should have been given a spot kick.
Much to the relief of Sokratis he got away with one and an Arsenal fan noticed his reaction after surviving the scare.
That reaction prompted some funny responses from fellow Gunners supporters on Twitter...
