Mika Biereth will be gradually integrated into the Arsenal first-team this season, with a view to going out on loan next season, football.london understands.
In a busy summer transfer window that saw the Gunners sign as many as six players - including Benjamin White, Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga - there was one deal that may have gone under the radar.
Towards the end of July, there was an addition to the club's academy ranks with Biereth joining on a free transfer turning down a professional contract at London rivals Fulham.
And so far this season he has caught the eye.
After scoring for the Arsenal U23's against Blackburn Rovers on Monday night, it's now five goals in 12 Premier League 2 appearances and the three assists show he's more than just a goalscorer.
Recently capped by Denmark U21s, Biereth is regarded as a big talent at the club and there are plans to involve him in the first-team picture by including him in senior training sessions this season.
Being able to pick up any tips from the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette will certainly help the teenager in his development.
As would a potential loan spell next season.
Whilst the loan system can be hit and miss at times, if the Gunners can find the right club for Biereth then he could end up saving Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu millions in future transfer windows.
Arsenal's plan to promote Biereth will be music to the ears of Kevin Betsy.
After being named as the Gunners' new under-23s head coach in the summer, he outlined his intention to produce the next wave of exciting talent at Hale End.
