Arsenal suffer Tariq Lamptey hammer blow as Mikel Arteta 'set to sanction double transfer'

Arsenal are on the hunt for business to complete in the January transfer window, which could see both incoming and outgoing business at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta's side are currently fourth in the Premier League but north London rivals Tottenham, just two points behind, have two games in hand.

Arsenal will be looking to secure new additions this month but there could also be significant departures, including within the forward ranks.

While Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future continues to grab the headlines, the Evening Standard has an update on Eddie Nketiah.

The forward has rejected the offer of a new contract from the Gunners and is free to leave for nothing in the summer when his contract expires.

Arsenal could, therefore, be pushed into a sale in January and it's reported that Crystal Palace are weighing up a bid for the England U21 international.

Elsewhere, Brighton boss Graham Potter has closed the door on a potential exit for Arsenal-linked Tariq Lamptey, stating ahead of this weekend's FA Cup fixtures that he doesn't expect departures from the squad.

"‘I’d expect all our players to be with us. There is a lot of speculation out there but nothing to report. Speculation means we are doing something well, as a team and a club. There has been no bids so far."

Finally, Ainsley Maitland-Niles is poised to complete his loan switch to Roma with Corrierre dello Sport via Sport Witness stating he has flown to Italy.

The Hale End academy graduate has already undergone medical tests in London, while Roma will pay more than half of his wages for the remainder of the season.
