Reiss Nelson and Sokratis are missing Arsenal's match against Sheffield United through injury as the Gunners look to climb back up the Premier League table.
Nelson has a hamstring injury which means he hasn't even made the bench. The 20-year-old could have replaced Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the left wing but as a result of his injury, Gabriel Martinelli will step in.
Early on in his reign, Mikel Arteta has showed a lot of faith in Nelson, starting him in three of his first five games in charge of the Gunners. Despite the injury, Nelson seems to be in the Spaniard's plans for the future.
"I know Reiss because I coached him when he was 16 and straightaway he caught my eye," the Arsenal head coach said this week.
"He is a boy that is willing to learn and loves the game but I think he has been a little bit confused in the last few years – what direction he had to take, some of the decisions that he made.
"Now I can see that he really wants it and I think he has the potential to do whatever he wants. He needs guidance, he needs a little bit of a stick, and he’s up for it. I put him to play and I trust him because he wants it and I think he can deliver."
In the case of Sokratis, he is missing the clash with the Blades through illness which gifts Shkodran Mustafi his first start since the 2-2 draw at Norwich.
The German has already played twice under Arteta - coming on as a substitute against Bournemouth and Chelsea - but this will be his first chance to impress his new coach over the course of 90 minutes.
Earlier in the week, the Spaniard was asked about Mustafi's future at the club following all the transfer speculation surrounding him.
"We haven’t talked about this internally, but I have known him since my time when I was at Everton. I know what he can do. I know the history at this football club, but it is up to him," the Spaniard said when asked about Mustafi's future .
I told everybody from day one: ‘It is up to you guys. You show me how much you want it, you show me you are committed here, you are going to have a chance and it is going to come this week, next week or the following one.'
"They are all going to have the chance to play. After it is up to them to show it."
