Arsenal suffer huge Alexandre Lacazette injury blow

Arsenal have confirmed that striker Alexandre Lacazette will be out of action until October, in a huge blow to Unai Emery.

The striker has been playing through an issue with his left ankle, but will now undergo a period of rehabilitation in order to get over the injury.

Arsenal have confirmed the news with an injury update on their official website.

"After assessments to an ongoing ankle issue, we have advised that Alex will need to rest and strengthen his ankle to regain full fitness," the update read. "Alex has been playing through this injury for several weeks. He is likely to be back in action in October."

The Frenchman was voted as the fans' player of the year at the end of season awards in 2018/19, after he scored 19 goals in all competitions.

The striker scored a crucial goal just before half time in the north London comeback against Tottenham before the international break, he limped off the field that day, with what was initially thought to be a hamstring injury.

Lacazette will miss Sunday's fixture against Watford, aswell as the Europa League opener against Eintracht Frankfurt on September 19th. It is likely that the striker will also be out for the away match against Manchester United at the end of the month.
