Arsenal suffer Houssem Aouar hammer blow as Lyon 'turn the page' in sensational transfer decision

Lyon have announced Arsenal target Houssem Aouar is going nowhere.

The Ligue 1 club have taken a bullish stance over the midfielder and captain Memphis Depay in the final days of the window.

Aouar has looked poised for a switch to North London while Depay has been heavily linked with Barcelona.

Real Madrid also reportedly entered the race for Aouar but all negotiations now look to be off.

L'Equipe report Lyon have intimated the duo will now not be allowed to leave before the deadline.

Departures for either Aouar or Depay would leave the club with very little time to source replacements.

The former's switch to the Gunners looked to have moved closer earlier this week when Lyon announced the £19million arrival of midfielder Lucas Paqueta from AC Milan.

It's been reported they were holding out for around £45million for Aouar but Paqueta's arrival was widely viewed as covering for his imminent exit.
