Arsenal striker Sam Greenwood has taken to social media to send a heartfelt goodbye message to Arsenal ahead of his imminent move away from the Emirates Stadium.
As reported by football.london, the 18-year-old will shortly complete a move to newly-promoted Leeds United after undergoing a medical with the club on Wednesday.
It is expected that a deal will be announced shortly, with Arsenal receiving a fee of around £1.5 million for the youngster, although add-ons could take the fee up to £3 million.
“I want to say a big thank you to @arsenal and the supporters for the last 2 years of my career,” the player wrote on his Instagram page.
“Been an honour to play for the club while meeting some special people and making even better memories.”
Greenwood arrived at Arsenal from Sunderland in 2018 and has been a regular in the club’s U18 squad during the two years.
He scored 15 goals in 39 appearances for the youth team. He also made the step-up to the U23s where he scored once in seven appearances.
The teenager will initially join the U23 squad at Elland Road.
Greenwood is one of three young players to leave Arsenal during the transfer window, with Falorin Balogun and Tyreece John-Jules expected to move on, although the latter will be on a loan deal to the Championship.
