Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick-Aubamayeng urged to join 'a more ambitious club' by Gabon FA president

Pierre Alain Mounguengui, the president of Gabon's football association, has urged Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to sign for a more ‘ambitious’ club.

Aubameyang has shone in north London since joining the Gunners in January 2018, scoring 49 in 74 Premier League appearances.

However, the former Borussia Dortmund star is yet to commit to new terms and Arsenal face losing him with his contract set to expire in 2021.

"I don't want to say that Arsenal aren't ambitious, but Arsenal don't have ambitions as high as some other clubs as far as Europe is concerned," Mounguengui told ESPN.

"So if Pierre could secure a contract with a more ambitious club, he'd definitely find his place there.

"On an individual level, we all consider him to be among the best players in the world, but the advice I give to him is to continue to work and to attract the attention of the biggest clubs and the most ambitious clubs."

Barcelona are among the clubs to have shown interest in Aubameyang in recent months with Manchester United also linked with a move.
