Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has joined Leeds United on a season-long loan deal.

The England youth international is highly-rated at the Emirates and played a significant role in the Gunners’ preseason campaign, having scored his first Premier League goal on the final day of last season.

However, he is firmly behind star duo Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the pecking order, while club record signing Nicolas Pepe can also play up front.

Brazilian teenager Gabriel Martinelli is now likely to provide Unai Emery’s striking backup, with Nketiah going in search of more regular playing time in the Championship.

Leeds had been in the market for a striker even before last season’s top scorer Kemar Roofe left the club to join Anderlecht yesterday.

That left Marcelo Bielsa with Patrick Bamford as his only recognised senior striker as the Elland Road outfit look to secure a long-awaited return to the Premier League.
