Arsenal starlet Reiss Nelson ruled out until November after picking up knee injury

Arsenal have suffered a blow with forward Reiss Nelson ruled out until November due to a knee injury.

The 19-year-old had been named in the England Under-21 squad for their matches against Slovenia and Austria on Friday and Tuesday respectively, but he was forced to withdraw on Monday.

Nelson had to pull out due to a knee injury and now Standard Sport understands he is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks.

The issue, however, is not thought to be too serious and it is hoped the forward will be back in action next month.

The news is nonetheless a blow to Arsenal, with Nelson catching the eye this season after breaking into the first team.

While the teenager had to withdraw from international duty, his team-mate Granit Xhaka is due to join up with Switzerland tomorrow.

The midfielder became a father yesterday after his wife, Leonita, gave birth to their daughter.

Consequently Xhaka was not there when the Switzerland squad assembled yesterday and it was speculated he may miss out on their Euro 2020 qualifiers with Denmark on Saturday and Ireland next week, but the 27-year-old is planning to join the group tomorrow.
