Arsenal starlet Reiss Nelson nominated for Bundesliga Rookie of the Year award

Arsenal youngster Reiss Nelson has been nominated for the Bundesliga's Rookie of the Year award.

The 19-year-old spent the entire 2018-19 campaign on loan at German side Hoffenheim after a deadline day move in August.

After being made to wait for his debut, Nelson made a huge impression under Julian Nagelsmann, scoring seven goals in 23 league appearances.

The winger memorably scored on his debut with his first shot after coming off the bench against Fortuna Dusseldorf.

His performance earned him a starting spot in the next match against Nuremberg and he repaid his manager's faith, scoring twice in a 3-1 victory.

By the end of October, Nelson had scored four goals in five Bundesliga appearances and featured five times in the Champions League before Hoffenheim's exit in the group stage.

His performances earned him a call-up to the England Under-21 squad and he made an instant impact, scoring on his debut.

He is joined on the shortlist by Dortmund full-back Achraf Hakimi, on loan from Real Madrid, and Watford loanee Dodi Lukebakio, who has excelled during his stint at Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Stuttgart duo Nicolas Gonzalez and Ozan Kabak, Frankfurt defender Evan N'Dicka and RB Leizpig wonderkid Matheus Pereira make up the seven-man list.
