Arsenal starlet has Sokratis in his sights after signing new contract

Brooke Norton-Cuffy has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The 17-year-old right-back has already made his debut at under-23s level at the age of 16 and has won four of his five Premier League 2 games so far.

Norton-Cuffy also revealed that Sokratis Papastathopoulos had been giving him advice in training.

The Greek defender left Arsenal by mutual consent on Wednesday and was immediately thanked by the Gunners youngster for helping him during his time at the club.

Sokratis had a spell at right-back under Mikel Arteta last season and would have given invaluable words of wisdom thanks to experiences at some of Europe's biggest teams.

Previously capped at under-16 level for England, Norton-Cuffy posted a message on social media and stating that "the hard work starts now."

"I think I'm an attacking fullback. I can do the defensive side of the game, I think I'm quite good at that," Norton-Cuffy told the DeludedGooner YouTube channel.

"If I want to progress and become world class I need to work on the attacking side of my game.

"I was a striker for most of my career. I played as a striker from under sixes to about under 13s. Then I started to transition to a winger and my coach had a word with me and said he thought I'd be good at right back. "My favourite thing about getting right back is getting assists. I love it."
