Arsenal starlet Charlie Patino signs for Swansea on season-long loan transfer

Swansea have signed Charlie Patino on loan from Arsenal for the 2023-24 campaign.

The 19-year-old becomes the Championship club’s seventh summer signing and will don the No18 shirt in south Wales.

Arsenal fielded interest in Patino from clubs at home and abroad during the transfer window, having initially accepted the player’s wish to move away permanently for regular first-team football.

Newly-promoted Luton were among the teams linked with the midfielder, along with Cardiff, following his impressive stint at Blackpool last season.

However, Patino has departed on a single-season loan deal as he looks to help Swansea’s promotion push under new manager Michael Duff.

Arsenal have moved on a number of young players during the summer window as Mikel Arteta crafts a squad capable of challening again for the Premier League title.

Sheffield United signed Auston Trusty for £5million last week while Denmark youth international Mika Biereth has been loaned to Motherwell.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are planning new contract talks with 18-year-old winger Amario Cozer-Duberry following interest in his signature, as he enters the final year of his current deal.
