Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka delivers seven-word verdict after England qualify for 2022 World Cup

Bukayo Saka has enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence in the last couple of seasons.

Saka emerged as a utility player during the first few months of Mikel Arteta's reign, often utilised as a left-wing-back when Scottish international Kieran Tierney was injured.

However, the youngster soon demonstrated how effective he was from the wing as he notched eight goals and ten assists last season - earning the club's player of the year award thanks to his consistent displays.

Despite enduring Euro 2020 final heartbreak over the summer, the 20-year-old has bounced back this term and provided a goal and an assist as Arsenal defeated local rivals Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 back in September.

Now, the England international has helped Gareth Southgate's side qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, netting a goal as The Three Lions defeated San Marino 10-0 on Monday night - a result that helped them qualify for next year's competition.

The Hale End academy graduate took to social media after the game to give his verdict on their qualification.

His Tweet read: "On our way to a World Cup!"

Saka's Arsenal teammate Emile Smith Rowe also shone against San Marino, providing a goal and an assist on his first start for England's senior side as Gunners icon Ian Wright admitted he is impressed with the current crop of Englishmen.

Wright told ITV: "It looks very exciting. Delighted for Emile Smith Rowe, Aaron Ramsdale, who is worth his place. It’s going to be interesting watching that development over the next year, him and Jordan Pickford, if he can carry on his form.

"Foden, we have to find a place for Foden in this team. Same with Saka. He’s got Bellingham in the side now. It’s perfect. It’s what you want as a manager, a young team, players you can change around.

"Now is the time for players to have a real blast at it."
