Arsenal forward Vivianne Miedema has been named Women’s Player of the Year at the London Football Awards.

The 22-year-old, who signed from Bayern Munich in 2017, is the top scorer in the Women’s Super League, having scored 16 goals, and also racking up seven assists.

She beat off competition from teammate Jordan Nobbs, who will sadly miss this summer’s World Cup through injury, as well as Chelsea pair Ji So-Yun and Erin Cuthbert. Tottenham’s Rianna Dean completed the shortlist.

The awards, which celebrate the best of London football in the 2018/19 season, are voted for by a panel of 22 experts from across the football industry, including ex-players such as Bobby Zamora, Bob Wilson and Tony Cottee.

Prior to the ceremony, Tottenham and England legend Glenn Hoddle had been confirmed as the recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to London Football award.
