Arsenal star Vivianne Miedema nets double to send Netherlands through at Women's World Cup

The Netherlands have booked their place in the final 16 of the Women's World Cup thanks to a trio of goals from Arsenal duo Vivianne Miedema and Dominique Bloodworth.

Miedema, who has become the Netherlands' all-time record international goalscorer at the age of 22, opened the scoring in the dying moments of the first half against Cameroon in Valenciennes with a diving header into the bottom corner.

Cameroon's Gabrielle Onguene responded just moments later with a goal in the 43rd minute, but the Netherlands powered home in the second half to secure a place in the knock-out stages.

Miedema's Arsenal teammate Dominique Bloodworth scored in the 48th, before Miedema herself made it a double by lashing the ball into the net at 85 minutes.

It now means she is the all-time international record goalscorer, having scored 60 goals in 76 games for the Netherlands. The success comes after a superb season for Arsenal, too, having scored 29 goals in 25 fames for the club.

The Netherlands now face Canada on Thursday in their final group stage game.
