Gabriel says he would love Arsenal to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo this summer, hailing the winger as a “phenomenon”.
Rodrygo has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium amid reports that he wants to play on the left flank.
The 24-year-old’s ability to do that consistently at Real Madrid is blocked by Vinicius Jr and it has led to suggestions that he may leave for a fresh challenge.
Arsenal have been credited with an interest in Rodrygo, and Gabriel, who plays with the winger for Brazil, has urged them to press ahead with a move.

“I don’t know, but I’d like [it] obviously,” Gabriel told Brazilian podcast PodPah. “He’s a phenomenon. I’ve told people already, he’s a phenomenon. If it was up to me, of course!”
Rodrygo’s future at Real Madrid is currently unclear, but he is due to hold talks with the club’s new manager, Xabi Alonso, over the coming weeks.
“He’s a Madrid player and I will have a conversation with everyone because we need to do so,” Alonso said last month. “We’ll get to know each other. He’s a spectacular player and we need him.”
Arsenal’s priority this summer is to sign a new striker, but the club want to add a wide player as well.
The Gunners are long-term admirers of Athletic Club and Spain star Nico Williams and have scouted Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon in the past.
Any deal for Rodrygo would likely be expensive as the Brazilian still has three years left to run on his current contract at the Bernabeu.
