Arsenal star Tierney earns 'excellent' verdict after Scotland performance

Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney has been praised by former Scotland international and Motherwell legend James McFadden after his role in the nation's 3-2 win over Israel.

Scott McTominay's last-gasp winner deep into stoppage time moves Scotland four points clear in second spot in World Cup 2022 qualification Group F.

Beating Faroe Islands and Moldova would seal a play-off spot as Scotland strive to make the major tournament in Qatar.

Tierney played a big role in Scotland's first goal, starting the build-up which resulted in John McGinn finding the net.

McFadden was impressed by the Muirhouse man's energetic play from left centre-back, alongside the work of Chelsea and Norwich City midfielder Billy Gilmour.

"They deserve enormous credit to come out in that second half and be energetic and show that composure on the ball," McFadden told Sky Sports.

"I thought Billy Gilmour was exceptional in the second half. Kieran Tierney was excellent down that left-hand side.

"It's not the best finish you will ever see from Scott McTominay but he will never forget that moment.

"But they deserved it. It was such a dominant performance in the second half.

"With the quality we have in the wide areas, you have to make yourself available in the box. You have to have composure to finish."
