Arsenal star snubs Jamie Carragher interview as pundit left with egg on his face

Takehiro Tomiyasu snubbed Jamie Carragher for an interview on Sky Sports after Arsenal's win over Aston Villa.

The Sky Sports crew consisting of Gary Neville, Carragher and presenter Kelly Cates were standing pitchside as they were analysing the game at full time when the Japanese international walked by them.

Carragher signalled Tomiyasu over to him to ask if he wanted to be interviewed, but the defender seemingly declined.

The former Liverpool defender laughed the incident off as Cates pointed out to the pundit that the Arsenal right-back didn't have an obligation to talk to Sky after they had already interviewed Emile Smith Rowe.

She said: "We're not part of this commitment, he doesn't have to talk to us."

Cates didn't let it go either as she poked fun at Carragher as they went to a commercial break.

She added: "Not everyone wants to speak to us but we'll be chatting to Mikel Arteta next."

Carragher was able to have a lengthy discussion with Smith Rowe, however, as he praised the midfielder for his performance against Villa.

The youngster was in the spotlight once again as he scored a goal and registered an assist against Dean Smith's men.

And Carragher reckons Smith Rowe is "special talent" and even regards him as the best dribbler in the Premier League.

He said: "He will get England caps, absolutely no doubt. It’s a nice problem for Gareth Southgate to have with the abundance of young attacking players.

Is Emile Smith Rowe the best dribbler in the Premier League? Comment below

"There’s no doubt he’ll get England caps but he’ll have to bide his time, I love this lad, I always want him to do well. And to watch him with full flow with the ball at his feet. He’s the best player in the Premier League running with the ball.

"He’s a special talent, he can pop up in different positions. If you’re a young attacking player, you have to have the ability to play in all of the front four positions now. And I think he can play all four and that’s a real bonus from him."
