Arsenal star sends message to Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane & Roberto Firmino ahead of Anfield clash

Arsenal defender Sokratis has claimed that the Gunners might find it easier to defend against Liverpool’s fearsome front three than they did against Burnley at the weekend.

Unai Emery’s men recorded their second win on the bounce at the weekend as goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang handed them a 2-1 victory in their first home game of the season.

The result leaves Arsenal second in the table on goal difference and they could move top with a win against Liverpool this coming Saturday.

The pair are the only two teams with 100% records so far this season, with only one of them able to maintain that statistic beyond the weekend.

Despite facing a front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino - who have scored a combined five goals in their last three games - Sokratis remains confident that Arsenal can get a result on Merseyside.

“For a defender it is more difficult (to play teams like Burnley) because you have to fight a lot," he told Goal.

“It (Liverpool) is a different game. Maybe it is more easy, because you don’t have to fight a lot - but they also play football.

“If they are on good day and you are having a bad day, it is hard.”

In their last outing at Anfield, Arsenal were beaten 5-1 by the European champions and Sokratis admits that it was a day to forget for the fans - but not the players, as they learned some important lessons.

“It was not the game to take five goals, (there was) the penalty kicks and we made mistakes,” he added.

“I think this year will be different, but we have to improve from the work we do with the coach and his staff.

“We have to be prepared for this game. It will be difficult of course. (Last season) was not only this game we learned from. We learned from Chelsea and Manchester City.

“We know already to be at this level you have to improve and to have more confidence and character when you go to play there (at Anfield). We have to have confidence and be together for 90 minutes.”
