Arsenal star makes huge Mesut Ozil transfer admission ahead of potential summer exit

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has been linked with a move away from North London for some time.

The midfielder is the highest-paid player at the club, and it looked as if he would be leaving in the build up to the January transfer window.

Ozil missed a number of games throughout October, but any hope of a move was put on hold when Unai Emery was sacked in November. Ozil has only missed one Premier League match since Emery's departure, with Mikel Arteta keeping him in a starting role in midfield.

But Arsenal's on-loan midfielder Mohamed Elneney says that he believes the German star could be set to leave the club.

The 27-year-old is currently at Besiktas, but says that he has been in regular contact with Ozil and believes he would be open to a move to Fenerbahce.

"Mesut really loves Fenerbahce," Elneny told BeIN Sports Turkey. "He's always speaking about the club and the fans.

"If you ask me, I think he could come to Fenerbahce.

"He's always trying to annoy me by singing Fenerbahce chants."

Ozil has stated previously that he would like to play for the Turkish club before the end of his career, having been a boyhood fan of the club.

However, he has also made it clear that he wishes to see out his current contract at Arsenal, which is due to expire in 2021.
