Arsenal star issues Vinicius Junior verdict as Gunners explore summer transfer amid new update

Christos Tzolis has said he is confident of impressing Mikel Arteta, despite Arsenal’s interest in Vinicius Junior.

The Greece international became the Gunners’ third signing of the summer transfer window upon completing a £34million move from Club Brugge last month.

Capable of operating out wide on both flanks and as a centre-forward, Tzolis is expected to be used as a left-winger next season and he’s impressed from that position in both of Arsenal’s fixtures this summer.

After claiming an assist in the behind-closed-doors win over MK Dons, Tzolis opened his account for Arsenal in their 4-1 victory against Girona at the weekend, and caught the eye with his overall play in Spain.

This, though, has not stopped Arteta from seeking to bolster his attacking options even further as Standard Sport understands the Gunners are exploring a deal for Vinicius Jr.

However, Tzolis has delivered his verdict on Arsenal potentially signing the Brazil superstar by insisting he plans to stake his claim for a spot on the left-wing.

"Obviously I'm confident as a player, so I don't think about the future and what the club will do in this position," Tzolis told Sky Sports.

"I'm thinking how to improve and settle as fast as possible in the club because I have the opportunity to train directly with the team from the beginning of the season, to play the friendly games and then to go to official games.

"So it's a chance to play directly from the beginning - and then it's up to me to show the qualities and what I can bring in the team.

“I'm pretty confident that I will show it in the next games."

There has been a new update in the Vinicius Jr transfer saga as he has reported back to Real Madrid amid growing speculation over a blockbuster summer transfer to Arsenal.

The Brazil superstar was filmed arriving at Madrid’s Ciudad Real Madrid Florentino Perez training ground in Valdebebas on Monday morning and has since been pictured by the club undergoing medical tests and resuming training.

Talks are now expected to continue between the 26-year-old’s representatives and Madrid, where he has now entered the final 12 months of his contract.
