Arsenal star hold talks over summer exit after making emotional transfer plea

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira may cut his Atletico Madrid loan deal short to fulfil his transfer wish.

Torreira has struggled for game time in La Liga, making just three starts in the league for Atleti and making 23 appearances across all competitions.

It's been a difficult season for the midfielder after the passing of his mother, and he recently spoke about his intentions to join Boca Juniors ahead of next season

"It’s not a crazy decision because of my mother. I have always said that I want to play for Boca. I’m dying to play for Boca and I will always say it," he told ESPN Argentina earlier this month.

"The night my mother died, one of the first to hear the news was my agent. I don’t want to play in Europe anymore, I want to play for Boca.

"I want to be close to my family. My father, crying, told me that it was time to play for Boca. I always liked Boca, I’m yet to experience La Bombonera, it’s something that I have deep inside me and I have to indulge myself.

"Hopefully things become clear soon, I have to go back and focus on Atletico. I’m more than proud, I’m calm, my team-mates have supported me.

"I have to be there, no matter how much it hurts, as there’s a month and a half of competition left. Hopefully, I can end up winning La Liga."

But according to the latest reports, with Atleti faltering at the top of La Liga and with their lead down to just two points, it seems Torreira may be willing to make the move sooner.

It's reported the Uruguayan wants to make the move now with Boca Juniors currently fourth in their section of the Argentine Primera Division.

Argentine outlet TyC report Torreira has already spoken to Boca Juniors executives over a proposed move. It's reported Arsenal would want €1million as a loan fee and that Boca would have to cover the midfielder's wages.

It will be interesting to see whether Torreira can get his move or whether he will have to wait until next season to pursue his dream of returning to South America.
