Arsenal star dubbed "world-class" despite defeat in Europa League final

Arsenal were embarrassed in the Europa League final by Chelsea on Wednesday night, losing 4-1 in Baku.

But one Gunners star has been dubbed "world-class" for his solo performance in what was a thoroughly disappointing night in Azebajan.

Petr Cech was playing his final game for the north London club before he hangs up his gloves at the end of the season.

The shot-stopper would have wanted to have gone out with a trophy, but was beaten four times on the night as Chelsea ran out worthy winners.

Robbie Savage, who was working as a pundit on BT Sport during the match, spoke out about the keeper following the fixture.

And he was full of praise for him, despite the result.

He said: "Magnificent performance from the goalkeeper, no chance with any of the goals, some world class saves. Agile, strong arms."

Cech is set to evaluate his future post playing professional football now that the season has concluded.

The former Chelsea goalkeeper has been offered the role of sporting director at the Stamford Bridge club.

After the match, Cech told BT Sport: "It's the most disappointing thing.

"I wanted to lift the trophy and then sit down and think because until June 30 I am still an Arsenal player.

"At this point, I won't decide on the issue, I'm still an Arsenal player."
