Leno ‘desperate’ to leave Arsenal

Gunners Icon Alan Smith has suggested that Bernd Leno will be ‘desperate’ to leave the club after falling behind Aaron Ramsdale in the goalkeeping pecking order.

The German has become Mikel Arteta ’s number two following the arrival of the former Sheffield United stopper and he will be eyeing a move eye, as per the ex- Arsenal striker.

As quoted by The Metro, he said: “He’ll be down. He’ll be desperate to leave the club.

“He is an experienced keeper. He won’t want to be a number two for any longer than he needs to be.”

Gunners handed major Martinez blow

Arsenal’s chances of signing Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez appear to have taken a huge hit over the past 24 hours.

The reigning Serie A champions announced that the Argentine had penned a new five-year deal at the San Siro, with reports suggesting that his release clause had been removed.

The Gunners, alongside north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, were interested in a deal during the summer transfer window.

Leicester receive fitness boost ahead of Gunners clash

Speaking of strikers, Arsenal have a very specific one to worry about in the form of Jamie Vardy this weekend.

The Gunners face Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, with the Foxes’ forward having previously been an injury doubt.

He was withdrawn at half-time against Brentford and missed the midweek Carabao Cup clash with Brighton but Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he is fit and firing ahead of the weekend.
