Arsenal star Bukayo Saka tipped to become Liverpool's Mohamed Salah replacement

Bukayo Saka has been backed to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool as the Reds star faces an uncertain future at Anfield.

Salah sees his contract on Merseyside expire at the end of next season with both parties locked in talks over extending his deal, with the Egypt international establishing himself as one of the best players in world football this term.

Jurgen Klopp has constantly played down talk that Salah will leave Anfield in the near future, but Liverpool are still consistently being linked with new wingers just in case.

Saka, who has been one of Arsenal's star players over recent times, has been linked with a shock move to Liverpool over the past week, with ESPN reporting that the Reds are watching the 20-year-old's situation at the Emirates Stadium.

Now, when speaking to Football Insider, former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips has tipped Saka to become Salah's long-term replacement at Liverpool.

He said: "I think he’ll get better and better, Saka. He’s still a young kid, he’s done a lot already in his short career.

"I think he’s an unbelievable talent and I think, moulded in the right way, he’ll turn out to be a top-class player. Whether he can go to Liverpool, if that was to happen, could he emulate what Salah’s done? It’d be very, very difficult for any player to do that.

"But he’s certainly got the attributes and qualities that he possibly could join Liverpool and replace Salah. Let’s not forget, Salah didn’t tear it up early on at Chelsea. For Saka, he’s developing all the time."

Arteta's stance on Saka's future

Mikel Arteta addressed Saka's future last month due to the speculation linking him with Liverpool.

However, the Arsenal boss was quick to play down the England international leaving the Emirates Stadium anytime soon, and instead insisted it was a good thing.

Arteta said: "I think that’s great news when you have a lot of talk and people willing for you players, it’s a really good sign.

"They should be proud because that means they are doing extremely good work."
