Arsenal star Alex Iwobi delivers Wilfried Zaha transfer verdict following quit talk

Alex Iwobi has revealed that he would like Arsenal to sign "World-class" Wilfried Zaha.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Crystal Palace talisman for much of the summer transfer window, but no move has yet come to fruition.

Zaha is reportedly keen on a move to the Emirates, while Gunners head coach Unai Emery is a keen admirer of the Ivory Coast frotman.

However, both clubs are well apart in their valuations of the 26-year-old, with Arsenal offering around £40million, while the Eagles hierarchy value him at more like £80million.

Iwobi was quoted as saying that signing Zaha would "add more stress" to his position at the Emirates.

football.london reported his "defiant message" after he told the Sun : "I am not one to chicken out. I have had it all over the years, being told I’m not good enough.

"So whenever the chance comes I always try and prove I should be starting. But it’s going to be difficult if Zaha comes. He will add more stress."

That led to some stories suggested he would quit if Zaha joined the north London outfit.

However, Iwobi has moved to clarify his comments.

In a scathing attack on some media outlets, Iwobi admitted that he would love to see players like Zaha join the club.

He said on Twitter: "I Hope We Sign World Class Players @Arsenal And Progress As A Team. I’m Looking Forward To The New Season. Happy Sunday."
