Arsenal signing Kieran Tierney won't return to full training until October

Arsenal's deadline day signing Kieran Tierney will not return to training until at least October, the club have confirmed.

The full-back, who joined from Scottish champions Celtic on the final day of the transfer window in a deal worth £25million, is currently recovering from a groin injury sustained north of the border.

The Gunners face Burnley in their first home game of the season on Saturday, having started their Premier League campaign with a win and a clean sheet at Newcastle.

Speaking about his injury following the move to north London, Tierney said: “It feels great. I'm delighted to be here. Obviously I'm injured now, but I'm just looking forward to getting back on the pitch, training and getting involved with the squad.

“It's been fine for me. I've been working hard in rehab and I've had good people around me as well."

Manager Unai Emery resisted starting any of his new signings on Tyneside, with Nicolas Pepe and Dani Ceballos coming off the bench while David Luiz was an unused substitute.
