Arsenal signing Denis Suarez hails 'football mad' Unai Emery as one of the world's best managers

Arsenal's deadline day signing Denis Suarez says he is looking forward to reuniting with 'one of the best coaches in the world' in Unai Emery.

Suarez, who joins the Gunners on loan from Barcelona until the end of the season , spent a year working with Emery at Sevilla, scoring six goals and assisting a further five in 46 appearances.

Having sealed a protracted move to north London, the 25-year-old is looking to recreate that success at the Emirates.

"I have a very good relationship with him," Suarez told the club website. "I spent a year with him at Sevilla when we won the Europa League. I think he’s a very demanding coach and one of the best coaches in the world right now - I’ve been saying that for a while.

"I’m really happy to have the chance to work with him again and I hope that the rest of the season is successful for me and the club.

"I think the main thing is that he dedicates a great deal of time to his work," Suarez added.

"He spends many hours and days watching videos of other teams and his own side. His training sessions are really demanding and he ensures that the team is completely prepared.

"But as I say, the biggest thing is the time he dedicates to his work. As we’d say in Spanish, he’s ‘un enfermo del fútbol' - football mad."

Suarez trained at London Colney for the first time on a frosty Thursday afternoon as his new teammates prepare to visit Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday.

The Spaniard could well be thrust in to face Pep Guardiola's side at the Etihad with Emery having been desperate to add width to his starting XI this month.
