Arsenal have signed Swedish youngster Nikolaj Moller from Malmo.

The striker, 18, will join the Gunners’ Professional Development Phase.

After a spell with Bologna, Moller, who measures 6’ 2”, was given the nickname Ibra after comparisons to compatriot and legendary forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who also featured for Malmo in the early stages of his career.

The Gunners will pay a fee in the region of £450,000, with the player committing to a four-year contract.

A club statement read: “Nikolaj Moller has joined us from Swedish side Malmo. He will link up with our Professional Development Phase this season.

“The 18-year-old centre forward is a powerful striker and prolific goalscorer. He has spent most of his youth career in Sweden, but recently spent time on loan in Italy at Bologna’s academy.

“We all welcome Nikolaj to Arsenal and look forward to watching his development with us. The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.”

Steve Bould will initially be in charge of Moller's development with the Under-23 squad this term and will therefore update Mikel Arteta on his development.

Moller will now look to gain regular game time after three goals in 17 Primavera appearances during his spell in Italy.
