Arsenal set to receive £20m cash boost as they battle Manchester United for Kieran Trippier

Welcome to our football.london Arsenal media watch piece. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all. Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

Willian departure is set to save the club £20m

Willian is set to save Arsenal £20 million as he has reportedly decided to tear up his contract amid a move to Corinthians, reports Kaveh Solhekol.

The 33-year-old is currently earning £240,000-a-week but is willing to take a 70% pay cut in what would be a free transfer back to his native Brazil.

Speaking on Willian’s departure, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: “At the moment, he is an Arsenal player, and we are trying to get the best out of him while he is here. Anything different is just things that can happen."

The winger signed a three-year deal with the Gunners in 2020 after leaving London rivals, Chelsea. During his first and potentially only season in red and white, the Brazilian international scored just one goal in 34 games.

Arsenal drop asking price for Eddie Nketiah

Arsenal are reportedly willing to reduce the asking price for striker Eddie Nketiah, according to The Sun.

It has been known that Crystal Palace are seriously interested in the striker but remain unsure about his £20 million asking price.

The Eagles tabled an initial bid of £8 million and are hoping to come to an agreement with the Gunners.

The Athletic previously reported that despite the Englishman’s contract expiring next summer, Arsenal are yet to agree terms on a new deal, showing their intent to move him on.

Nketiah came through Arsenal’s Hale End academy and has played 38 games for the first team, scoring five goals in the process.

Manchester United set to steal Arsenal's right-back target

Arsenal's pursuit of Atletico Madrid's Kieran Trippier has been dealt a blow as Manchester United have reportedly reignited their interest in the right-back.

The Athletic claim that Borussia Dortmund have made a loan bid for United’s Diogo Dalot as the Red Devils are said to be considering the offer if they can land a direct replacement, with Trippier on the shortlist.

football.london first revealed back in May that the Gunners wanted to sign a right-back this summer but only if they could offload one of the full-backs from the squad.

With Hector Bellerin wanting out, Arsenal are said to be interested in replacing him with Trippier.

Alan Shearer slams Granit Xhaka

Alan Shearer has slammed Granit Xhaka for his red card during Arsenal’s 5-0 defeat against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking on BBC Match Of The Day, Shearer said: “He [Arteta] should be raging at that tackle because you are up against it anyway, you cannot afford to do that type of thing.”

Xhaka is now set to miss the next three games. He will be absent for Premier League matches against Norwich City and Burnley, whilst the final game of his suspension will be served via the Carabao Cup third-round tie against AFC Wimbledon.

The former Newcastle man added: “That is eleven red cards in his career now, you just can't excuse this, all he has said to his teammates is: 'I just don't fancy this today.'
