Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Martin Odegaard as they aim to make three signings in the January transfer window.
The Real Madrid midfielder is on the verge of joining the Gunners on loan until the end of the season after being convinced over a move.
Odegaard has also been linked with a return to Real Sociedad, but it appears his mind is set on Arsenal.
His father, Hans, and agent Bjorn-Tore Kvarme, met with Arsenal's technical director Edu to discuss a potential switch, according to Football London .
As a result of those talks Odegaard is now ready to agree terms on a six-month deal.
The agreement between both clubs would not include an option-to-buy clause, meaning the 22-year-old would return to Madrid in the summer.
Arsenal hold close links with the La Liga outfit, given they already have Madrid star Dani Ceballos on loan.
And Ceballos has urged Odegaard to follow his example and seek first-team football elsewhere, amid his lack of action under boss Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu.
"Young players need to play regularly," Ceballos said. "At Real Madrid, I needed to know that I would have equal opportunities. I was obsessed with playing again.
"I wasn't getting minutes, but I realised it was best to work and reverse the situation and be important [with another club].
"If I do this [go on loan], I'll play again. It couldn't have been any clearer."
Should Arsenal complete the transfer of Odegaard it would leave them with just one target remaining on their wish-list for this month.
As per Football London's report, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was also in the market for a new goalkeeper and a left-back.

Speaking at his press conference on Thursday, Arteta highlighted the recent departure of Sead Kolasinac and said: "We are a little bit short on left-footed full-backs."
Arteta has no plans to replace Arsenal No.1 Bernd Leno, but was keen to add a new keeper to his ranks to provide back-up.
Arsenal signed Alex Runar-Runarsson in the summer, but he was signed to fulfil the role of third-choice stopper.
